The Association between Youth Women's Knowledge and Personal Hygiene Practices during Menstruation

Lack of knowledge among young women about personal hygiene during menstruation can cause reproductive tract infections and affect infertility or sterility. One of the risk factors for reproductive tract infections is poor menstrual personal hygiene. The aim of writing this literature review is to determine the relationship between adolescent girls' knowledge and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation. The design used is correlational, quasi experiment, descriptive and cross sectional. The data base used is Google Scholar and Pubmed Central (PMC) published from 2017 to 2020. The keywords used are (Knowledge of Young Women) AND (Personal Hygiene Behavior During Menstruation). Journals that have been found are then screened based on appropriate topics. and the year the journal was published, resulting in 10 journals being reviewed. The research results show that the majority of respondents have good knowledge about personal hygiene during menstruation. Most respondents behaved well regarding personal hygiene during menstruation. The results of data analysis from the journals reviewed show that there is a relationship between adolescent girls' knowledge and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation. Based on the research results, it was concluded that there is a relationship between adolescent girls' knowledge and personal hygiene behavior during menstruation. It is hoped that young women must maintain health and maintain cleanliness in the feminine area during menstruation.
